READING CULTURE
FORGOTTEN
How
many books have you read? or Have you read book today? From the question we can
know about reading culture that is forgotten in Indonesia. According to Fadli
Zon vice of DPP Gerindra said that reading culture in Indonesia is very low,
just 0.01 %. It means that only one of ten hundreds, people have willing to
read book. And totally, it is not like Japan (45%) and Singapore (55%). Actually,
there are many reasons why reading culture is not civilized in Indonesia.
Reading
culture has never been civilized by our ancestor. We usually heard fairy tale,
story, tradition, that is talked by our ancestor. Therefore, nothing learn
written that can appear reading habitual.
Doctrine
system in Indonesia has made student passive and just heard a teacher teach in
class than look for information or knowledge more than what is thought in the
school with read many books. Should homework that given more like interesting
something, therefore, make student read many books and their knowledge can
develop and made to interest student to read book.
In
short, reading culture should be habitual eating for our generation that almost
balance with food, clothing, and need. We should be realize that book is carries civilization. Without book anything
will be stuck. Book is changing machine, world window.
